What is Chasing?
CHASING is a funny, honest and thought-provoking one-woman show about ambition, achievement, perfectionism and the relentless pursuit of being enough.
Meet Barbara.
She’s successful, capable, dependable and very good at getting things done.
She’s spent years chasing the things we’re told will make us feel successful: achievement, recognition, productivity, praise and the satisfaction of knowing we’ve done enough.
There’s just one problem.
It still doesn’t feel like enough.
Through comedy, storytelling, larger-than-life characters, multimedia and audience interaction, CHASING explores what happens when the life that looks successful from the outside doesn’t feel quite the way you thought it would on the inside.
It’s not about giving up ambition.
It’s about asking a different question:
What happens when you check all the boxes, and you still feel like something is missing?

The audience isn’t simply watching Barbara’s world.
They’re invited into it and members of the High Achievers Club.
The evening begins at The Achievement Awards Gala, hosted by the delightfully over-the-top Barbara Overwork, President of the High Achievers Club.
It’s an evening celebrating those special people who somehow manage to do it all. The people who answer emails in the bathroom and call a vacation “a great opportunity to catch up on work.”
If you’ve ever been proud of how much you can juggle while simultaneously wondering why you’re so tired…
You might just qualify for membership.
More than a one-woman show
One performer.
But definitely not just one personality.
Barbara isn’t alone on stage for long. Her inner voices have opinions too.
In CHASING, Diane transforms into larger-than-life characters that bring some of Barbara’s inner voices to life:
The Perfectionist. The Ringmaster. The Rebel. The Spark.
The show combines:
Comedy. Character transformations. Storytelling. Audience interaction. Unexpected theatrical moments.
And underneath the laughter are questions that might feel uncomfortably familiar:
Why do I keep chasing?
And why am I not happier?
Diane is her audience
Diane didn’t create CHASING by observing these pressures from the outside in her coaching clients and keynote attendees.
She knows how they feel personally.
From the outside, her life looked successful: A+ student, captain of sports teams, student council president, university grad, a great job with a promotion, getting engaged, buying a house, and plenty of other accomplishments.
But checking more boxes didn’t automatically create more happiness or satisfaction.
Then a close friend said something that stopped her:
“Diane, you’ve lost your spark.”
That conversation became part of Diane’s own journey of questioning what she was chasing and eventually part of the inspiration behind CHASING.
As Diane puts it: “I am my audience.”
Why theatre?
For more than 15 years, Diane has explored these ideas through coaching, speaking, her women’s community, her podcast, YouTube videos, books and conversations with women.
But theatre allows something different.
Theatre gives us permission to be messy, honest and human.
CHASING turns these ideas into an experience where audiences can laugh at some of the ridiculous things we do, recognize themselves, maybe squirm a little and leave talking about what success, satisfaction and “enough” really mean.
The bigger purpose
We’re Living in a World Full of Women Chasing Enough.
Women who have achieved so much.
Carried so much.
And somehow still wonder:
“Why doesn’t this feel like enough?”
It’s time to change the conversations and how we measure life!
From page to stage
Emerging Artist Showcase
In May 2026, CHASING was selected to be presented as part of an Emerging Artist Showcase, giving Diane the opportunity to introduce the concept and theatrical vision for the show to members of the theatre community.
The showcase included a live taste of Barbara and the world of CHASING, along with the inspiration behind the show and the vision for its future development.
It marked an important step in moving CHASING from an idea and script toward a fully realized theatrical production.
The First Live Read-Through
In June 2026, CHASING took another important step forward with its first live read-through at Presentation House Theatre in North Vancouver.
An invited audience experienced the story and characters, allowing us to hear the laughter, discover what changed when the words moved off the page and see where audiences connected most strongly.
A facilitated feedback session followed, and those insights are now helping shape the next stage of development.
About Diane Rolston · Writer & Performer
Diane Rolston is a professional speaker, coach, author, podcaster and entrepreneur with more than 15 years of experience engaging audiences on stages and at events across North America.
As founder and CEO of Dynamic Women® and VA Made Easy, she has spent nearly two decades building businesses, leading communities and working with ambitious women who understand what it means to achieve, push and carry a lot.
Her stage experience includes professional speaking, emceeing, live events and workshops, storytelling and stand-up comedy. She’s comfortable thinking on her feet, interacting with audiences and finding the humour in real-life experiences.
Diane is also an 11-time author and host of the award-winning Dynamic Women® Podcast, giving her years of experience turning ideas and lived experiences into stories that connect with women.
CHASING brings those worlds together in a new way, combining Diane’s experience as a speaker, storyteller, entrepreneur and performer with a deeply personal subject she knows firsthand.
